SugarDVD Mentioned in Oprah Magazine

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Online adult DVD rental service SugarDVD.com scored a mainstream media coup by being mentioned in the July issue of O, The Oprah Magazine.

Tech and sex writer Violet Blue highlights SugarDVD.com in her article about the relationship between women and adult entertainment. She said, “[SugarDVD.com] offers [a] diverse video selection and stringent privacy policies. With porn, women like me get to experiment with making adult choices and trying on new fantasy ideas.”

Blue also mentions female directors Candida Royalle and Tristan Taormino; and couples-friendly production companies Comstock Films and Blue Productions.

“Oprah is one of the largest names in the world,” SugarDVD.com CEO Jax Smith said. “This mention did a lot for the strength of our brand. It was the first time we saw a record of [Oprah] covering adult. It felt good to see our site acknowledged as the best place to rent adult DVDs online in her magazine.”

Smith’s assistant Angie told XBIZ that the mention is impressive because of the female-friendly demographic that O reaches. Blue contacted Smith about the mention before the magazine hit newsstands.

SugarDVD.com made headlines in the mainstream press after ultimately unsuccessful bids to purchase the celebrity sex tapes of Kim Kardashian and Lauren Conrad. The company also made a pitch for “American Idol” reject Antonella Barba to serve as the company’s celebrity spokesperson.
